An Introduction to the Study of the Kabbalah
William Wynn Westcott
An Introduction to the Study of the Kabbalah, by English coroner, ceremonial magician, theosophist and Freemason William Wynn Westcott, was originally published after delivery in the form of lectures to a Society of Hermetic Students in 1888. The late Victorian period, due to rising new age movements, saw a renewed interested in non-western religions and the occult sciences, one of those being the Hebrew mysticism of the Kabbalah. Westcott felt he needed to draw attention to its dogma after his many years of study and translation of the canon, and his work with the Rosicrucian Society. Also due to the fact that there was still a problem with the opacity and complexity of much of its language, and a simplified introduction was still required. The work looks at the key texts and concepts of the Kabbalah, and is ideal for the absolute beginner, or those who seek to refresh their outline of the topic.
