This true life story takes place in Southern Alabama during(1950-1979) on a large farm as sharecroppers with our parents, planting and harvesting cotton, corn and peanuts to sell at the market to support our large family. Daddy, George Henry Barganier was born thirty-three years after slavery ended in 1898. He married my mother(Ma) and together they reared 12 children. In spite of tremendous challenges he faced throughout his life, he always sought to help others. His life was like an unpaved road with no easy passageway and no clear direction. Throughout his life he was confronted with racial prejudice, injustice, poverty and in the end left a legacy of love and compassion that paved the way for his children to cope with life adversities. Dorothy B. Williams(Barganier) - struggled for the past twelve years to complete the autobiography of her father. She wanted to present his life in the best way possible. This was not easy, as she is the youngest sibling. Her memory of some of the events depicted in the story was supported by older siblings. She has no previous experience in writing. Her expertise is in the field of technology. For the past forty years, she worked as a software developer at various insurance companies and major hospitals. At the age of fifty she learned to read, write and speak Russian. She is currently learning Ukrainian language to speak with people about the Bible. She is an active member as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. She wanted to ensure that the memory of her father is never forgotten in hope that the readers will be inspired by her story and the many challenges he faced during his life that exemplifies true love and unwavering devotion to his family and the profound impact it had on her life.
