It tells of a young woman named Alice, who falls through a rabbit hole in a fantasy underground world populated by peculiar anthropomorphic creatures. It is considered one of the best examples of the meaningless literary genre. The story plays on logic, giving the story lasting popularity in both adults and children. One of the best known and most popular works of fiction in English, its narrative, structure, characters, and images have had a tremendous influence on popular literature and culture, especially the fantasy genre. The work has never been exhausted, and has been translated into at least 97 languages. Her ongoing legacy spans many adaptations for stage, screen, radio, art, theme parks, board games, and video games. Carroll published a sequel in 1871, titled Through the Looking-Glass, and a toddler version, The Nursery "Alice", in 1890. Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (Daresbury, Cheshire, UK, January 27, 1832-Guildford, Surrey, UK, January 14, 1898), better known by his pseudonym Lewis Carroll, was an Anglican deacon, logician, mathematician, photographer, and British writer.
