Arctic region as a new step to international cooperation Daria Gerasimenko

This research work considers the current status of the Russian part of Arctic region which helps to identify the main environmental problems, the solution of which has become today the main issue on the agenda for international cooperation. The main international documents and organizations involved in solving the environmental problems of the Russian part of Arctic region are analyzed. The main examples of international scientific and technological cooperation in solving environmental problems of the Russian part of Arctic region are considered and the main international partners and prospects in the development of relations in the environmental field (especially the problem of radioactive pollution) are identified. The author substantiates the thesis that even in the current crisis in relations between Russia and the West today international cooperation in the field of environmental protection of the Arctic region and the study of the main causes of environmental challenges continues in the Arctic region. The author comes to the conclusion that today international cooperation in the field of solving environmental problems of the Arctic region is intensively developing.
