Intravenous Clonidine Premedication for Laparoscopic Surgery: Haemodynamics in Laparoscopic Surgery Sarita S. Swami

The multiple advantages of laparoscopy is making it more common day by day. As an anaesthetist it becomes more challenging during the intraoperative period because of neurohumoral and mechanical factors. Many drugs have been used to overcome these challenges. Clonidine, a centrally acting alpha 2 agonist is known to reduce the neurohuomoral secretions secondary to stress induced sympathoadrenal hyperactivation. This study evaluates the effect of clonidine in comparison to placebo.
