Biotechnology has become a necessity, not only in research, but also in the culture and breeding of lilies. Various methods in tissue culture and molecular breeding have been applied to the production of commercially important lily species and cultivars. This book is very helpful regarding haploid production of lilium. Anther culture is still an available method for haploid production of lily, but development of an efficient anther or microspore culture techniques in a wide range of species and cultivars is required for the practical applications of haploids or doubled haploid into lily breeding programme.
