Brief Description: Expands the traditional nursery rhyme about a traveling feline to reveal the adventurous cat's further voyages to France, Australia, the far north, and other places, as well as his fears and his emotions. Biographical Note: Dan Bar-el is a children's author, educator and storyteller. His work includes a series of satirical chapter books including Things Are Looking Grimm, Jill (winner of the 2008 Silver Birch Express award) as well as two funny picture books including Alphabetter (chosen by the BC government for the Ready, Set, Learn program - 50,000 copies sent to preschool children across the province) and Such a Prince (a 2009 Blue Spruce Honour Book). In the past, Dan trained and worked professionally as an actor, has written for theatre, as well as written and performed comedy across Canada. He has many years experience working with school age children and currently facilitates a unique storytelling program that he brings to preschools and daycares. Dan merrily travels around the country visiting schools and libraries, and when he's not doing that, he lives and thrives in Vancouver along with the most adorable kitten in the known universe. When Vancouver Artist Rae Mate heard The Lord's Prayer recited in first grade, she believed that the phrase, "Our Father who "art" in Heaven" referred to the Creator indulging His passion for drawing and painting. Since graduating from art school, Rae has exhibited widely, taught art to preschoolers and illustrated the children's picture book, CROCODILES SAY... Contributor Bio:  Bar-el, Dan Dan Bar-el is an award-winning children's author, educator and storyteller. His writing includes both chapter books and picture books. Dan currently travels across the country, visiting schools and libraries to present his books, give storytelling performances and lead different writing workshops. Back in Vancouver, he teaches creative writing courses for children through the organization Creative Writing for Children Society (CWC). He shares his life with artist and goldsmith Dominique Brechault and Sasha, the smartest and cutest cat in the known universe. Contributor Bio:  Mate, Rae Rae Mate's first children's picture books, "Crocodiles say..." and "Crocodiles Play!" were published by Tradewind Books. She and her husband, Gabor, have three children, a dog and two cats, and live in Vancouver, British Columbia. Rae divides her painting time between her backyard studio in Vancouver and Hornby Island, BC.
