Cancer treatment has ravaged Flora Adams's body, and she plans a visit to her aunt to recuperate, but a chance detour introduces her to Mac McIlhaney, an old man who both aggravates and mesmerizes her and changes her life forever. The detour turns into a labyrinth of emotuions that seems to Flora to have as little cohesion as an old-fashioned crazy quilt, and she discovers that love can turn up in unexpected places. One third of the author's royalties for this book goes to the UNM Cancer Research Center.
