The newspaper photograph was an old one, taken during the Second World War. It was an innocent snapshot of a handsome young man in his new lieutenant's uniform. The accompanying article told of his heroism as a British agent within the French Resistance. Side-by-side was a contemporary photograph of the same man, now a distinguished elderly gentleman, a retired Cabinet Minister and venerated senior politician.
However, for one aged couple, the image of that young man rekindles horrific memories of wartime France. They recognise him, not as a brave British soldier, but as an unknown member of a German team responsible for the brutal destruction by torture and death of a French resistance group. Now the man's true identity is revealed to them together with the shocking fact that he was a traitor who had lied to protect his political ambitions. But where is the proof?
