My book reflects the emotions I have gone through while trying to deal with my diagnosis of Survivor?s Guilt. It goes from before Vietnam, through my tours in Vietnam and to what the families at home went through receiving and burying their loved ones. I could only put myself in the positions of those I wrote about and how I thought they felt. DJ didn?t die as I had him die in the poem but it?s something I thought he would have done. He died on a night ambush gone wrong. In the U. S. I served on an honor guard and was able to see the grief the families went through as they buried their loved one. I tried to show how the families suffered going through each member of the family. I tried to show a little of what we went through in fighting with the enemy.
