During or after the Civil War, noofficial history was ever written on this Missouri Union Cavalry Regiment.¿ This book¿ hopefully will accomplish this.¿ While the Regimental records now lay at thebottom of the Mississippi River near Greenville, Mississippi when the Steamer B. M. Runyan hit a snag in the river and sank in the summer of1864, the records have now been reconstructed for the first time along withRosters.¿ This book is based upon threeseparate partial histories which were incomplete individually, but have been conveniantly consolidated into a consistanttimeline, for the benefit of the men who served in the Regiment as well asfuture researchers. From early events through the end of the war, the book alsogives a brief history of the Civil War in Missouri.¿
