Sweet Essence of Murder, in essence, is the story of four women in difficultsituations of murder and mayhem. Hortenseand Phoebe, noted mystery writers intheir own right, live at different ends of the spectrum in the literary world. They meet when their mutual friend and lover, Larry Thornton is brutallymurdered. They resolve their differences and pool their resources to find theperson guilty of murdering their friend. They soon learn that it's far easierto sit in front of their computer and write a mystery than actually solving areal murder case. Especially when they come face to face with a cold-bloodedkiller. Hollyand Arlene meet by chance and soonlearn they have a strong common bond; they're battered wives. Each day theylive in fear of losing their life, at the hands of their husbands. Astrong camaraderie develops between the two women as they keep their friendshipa secret from their husbands. Forthe fun of it, and as a release from all their aggressions, they make up agame. The object of the game is to commit the perfect murder by killing eachother's husband. Suddenly, their little game turns out to be deadly.
